The Depreciation Guild, a duo from Brooklyn, NY just released their first album “In Her Gentle Jaws”. It deserves to be heard and talked about more in my humble…. I would be surprised if the album doesn’t end up in the year-end best-of lists massively. A hell of a way to debut with melodic, blippy and noisy album reminiscent of Pale Saints and Cocteau Twins and M83 to just name a few… They “quote” their influences, and why not, if they can do it so very well. The melodies are entirely their own. Oh, did I mention that they are kinda good looking, so that should help fo sho…
I added a bunch of songs that were hiding somewhere on my hard drive to my Itunes today, and this forgotten song popped up. Worth revisiting even if you are not big on some of the Conorisms, and especially because this video is directed by John Cameron Mitchell of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” and “Shortbus” fame. Hope it would make you feel good.
